Registration

Before Hugs & Tails can carry out any services for you, your pet(s) must first be registered with Hugs & Tails. You can register your pet(s) online by completing a form provided by Hugs & Tails or at the Meet & Greet, which this applies to dogs that are boarding with Hugs & Tails home boarding services. By completing and submitting the Hugs & Tails registration form you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of Hugs & Tails.

Written instructions are to be provided by you, the client, and agreed with the Registered Petsitter to ensure absolute clarity regarding the care of your pet(s) at the time of booking. This will include but is not limited to information pertaining to your pet’s personality, quirks, preferences, fears, intolerances and allergies.

Upon registration you, the client, will provide the Registered Petsitter with the appropriate security information in order to gain access to the premises in your absence.

Bookings

Bookings are subject to the Terms and Conditions set out in this document. Variation to the Terms and Conditions may be made from time to time and will be posted on the Hugs& Tails website. It is your responsibility to check for any updates.

Exclusions

Hugs & Tails does not accept any dogs listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act 1997. No dogs on the banned list – Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Braziliero – or visually resembling any dog on the banned dogs list will be accepted.

Injuries

In the event that the Registered Petsitter is injured as a result of caring for a pet, the pet owner/guardian will be liable to pay for any injury, medical fees until the Registered Petsitter is sufficiently well to resume duties.

General charges

Once you have been sent your booking confirmation any amendments made will incur a £5.00 administration fee.
 You are responsible for any additional fees (such as food for your pets) that are reasonably incurred during your absence or during the course of an assignment. 
If the service you are booking is due to commence within 48 hours Hugs & Tails has the right, but not the obligation, to charge an additional administration fee of £10.00.

Keys

Keys will be returned to you, the client, upon receipt of full payment for services rendered. There will be a £5 key collection fee should the Registered Petsitter need to return to the client after the initial meeting. There will be a £5 key return fee should the Registered Petsitter need to return to the client after the final service has been completed.

Prices

The latest prices for standard services are listed on the website.
 Prices may vary for bespoke packages and day care rates. These charges will be listed in the quote you will be given based upon your required services.

Payment

Full payment is expected on receipt of invoice by bank transfer or cash. Services will not commence until the invoice has been settled in full. You will be deemed to have accepted the charges of Hugs & Tails upon confirmation of your booking. Your booking will not be confirmed until Hugs & Tails’s fees have been paid in full.

Cancellations

Full refund will be given if cancellation is made in writing 28 days or more in advance of the agreed start date.

25% of full invoice will be refunded if cancellation is made in writing 14 days or more in advance of the agreed start date.

No refund will be given 13 days or less in advance of the agreed start date.

In the event that no payment has been made prior to the agreed start date a minimum charge of 50% of the total amount due will be chargeable to be paid immediately.

Hugs & Tails reserves the right to refuse service and return a pet to its owner, the emergency contact, kennels or a vet, should the registered petsitter deem this to be the most appropriate course of action.

In the unlikely event that an Hugs & Tails’s Registered Petsitter cannot honour an assignment, Hugs & Tails will endeavour to make the most appropriate alternative arrangements. You will be refunded for any payment you have already made.

If you have a regular dog walking service you must give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or you will be charged in full. Occasional bookings of any description, including dog walking, will be subject to the normal cancellation charges.

Insurance and liability

Save as required by statute, no liability is accepted by Hugs & Tails or any Registered Petsitter associated to Hugs & Tails for any loss or damage caused or contributed by the Registered Petsitter or pet.

Public Liability cover of £5,000,000 including Pet to Vet Transport, Loss of Client’s keys, House sitting with or without pets to care for. £20,000 cover for pets in care.

Your pet

Dogs

Information given in the initial registration form will be used for all subsequent bookings unless Hugs & Tails is notified in writing that there has been a change in your pet’s condition or requirements. It is your responsibility as the pet owner/guardian to ensure that the latest information is always provided before the commencement of each service.

You, the client shall provide secure collars with name/address/phone tags and leads. Whilst in the care of Hugs & Tails or one of its associated Registered Petsitters.

It is the responsibility of you, the client, to ensure that the home and surrounding yard/garden where your pet is kept is secure with adequate fencing and gates to ensure that the pet cannot escape.

Your dog will not be walked off the lead without your prior authority and always at your risk. You will be obliged to sign an additional form to confirm your authorisation.

Your dog’s standard vaccinations and boosters must up to date. Kennel cough vaccination is advisable but not obligatory.

Cats

Information given in the initial registration form will be used for all subsequent bookings unless Hugs & Tails is notified in writing that there has been a change in your pet’s condition or requirements. It is your responsibility as the pet owner/guardian to ensure that the latest information is always provided before the commencement of each service.

You, the client shall provide secure collars with name/address/phone tags. Whilst in the care of Hugs & Tails or one of its associated Registered Petsitters.

Your cat’s standard vaccinations and boosters must up to date.

Rabbits

Your rabbit’s standard vaccinations and boosters must up to date.

General

Information given in the initial registration form will be used for all subsequent bookings unless Hugs & Tails is notified in writing that there has been a change in your pet’s condition or requirements. It is your responsibility as the pet owner/guardian to ensure that the latest information is always provided before the commencement of each service.

It is our responsibility as pet owner / guardian to ensure that your pet is free from fleas, lice and is adequately wormed. It is at the discretion of Hugs & Tails to determine if it is advisable to seek veterinary advice for the condition of your pet.

If it becomes necessary, your pet will be taken to a veterinary surgeon in your absence. Hugs & Tails will endeavour to contact you before any decisions need to be made. If we are unable to make contact with you we will contact the emergency contact on your registration form and in the event that we are unable to reach them we will act upon the veterinary surgeon’s advice. This may include operations and/or euthanasia.

Hugs & Tails provides a pet taxi service to take your pet to the vet on your behalf and you will be liable for any veterinary fees due and the cost of Hugs & Tails’s pet appointment service.

You, the client, authorise the Registered Petsitter permission to transport your pet to the veterinary surgery if required. You understand that neither Hugs & Tails nor any of its employees or associates, assume responsibility for the loss of any animal and is released from all liability related to transportation, treatment and expense. Hugs & Tails will always endeavour to take your pet to your preferred vet but you accept that this may not always be possible.

In the event that your pet should die due to unforeseen circumstances or natural causes, Hugs & Tails will not be held liable for any loss.

Your property

It is your responsibility to provide the Registered Petsitter with written details of any security system details, the location of the water tap, gas meter and the electricity meter.

In the event of a problem or emergency the Hugs & Tails’s Registered Petsitter will contact you or your emergency contact to determine an adequate solution. In the event that the Registered Petsitter is unable to contact either you or the emergency contact in what the Registered Petsitter determines to be a reasonable period of time, given the nature of the problem or emergency, the Registered Petsitter will take whatever action they deem appropriate to resolve the problem. You will be liable for any costs incurred and Hugs & Tails will be exempt from any losses or charges incurred.

Insurance & liability

It is your responsibility to insure your property and your pet. Hugs & Tails accepts no liability for damage caused by your pet or an Hugs & Tails Registered Petsitter during an assignment. You will be liable in the event that the Hugs & Tails Registered Petsitter or a third party is injured by your pet.

The Hugs & Tails’s insurance is in relation to the performance of duties according to the insurance of Hugs & Tails. It is not a substitute for your own insurance cover.

You, the client, must, before handing over the assignment to the Registered Petsitter, make sure you have given full written details and instructions on care of your pet(s) and the property. Neither Hugs & Tails nor the Registered Petsitter will be responsible if full instructions are not given in advance on the assignment.

You, the client, will indemnify Hugs & Tails against any claims for loss or injury caused to either the Registered Petsitter, their property or the Registered Petsitter’s pets which are caused by the client’s pet(s) or as a result of breach of these terms and conditions, negligence or otherwise.

The client must telephone or text Hugs & Tails on 07393 436328 to notify them of their safe return. Until Hugs & Tails is notified of such, they will continue to visit your pet as agreed and charge accordingly.

Third parties

It is the responsibility of you, the client, to advise any third parties including but not limited to friends, neighbours, cleaners and trades’ people that a Registered Petsitter from Hugs & Tails will be visiting your property whilst you are absent.

You will inform the Registered Petsitter from Hugs & Tails in writing of any third parties, including but not limited to, friends, neighbours, cleaners and trades’ people who have access to your property before, during or after services have been rendered.
Hugs & Tails will not be liable for other persons or their actions or omissions that will be in, or have access to your property before, during or after services have been rendered.

Photography

All photographs taken for or on behalf of Hugs & Tails are the copyright of Hugs & Tails. Hugs & Tails has the right to use photographs it has taken of clients’ pets for marketing purposes with the written consent of the pets’ owner/guardian.

Social media

Hugs & Tails and any Registered Petsitter associated to it has the right to use photos they have taken of the pets under their care on the Hugs & Tails website and via social media websites including Instagram and Facebook. Should you, the client, wish to opt out of this you will need to submit this by email to rachelle@hugsandtails.co.uk.

By accepting the services offered by Hugs & Tails you agree to the terms and conditions cited above.
